Ingredients
-
6 oz Rao's Homemade Penne Rigate Pasta
-
1 32 oz jar Rao’s Homemade Vodka Arrabbiata sauce
-
1/4 cup olive oil, divided (Rao's Homemade Limited Reserve Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
- 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
- 1 pound ground beef (90/10)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 cup parmigiano reggiano cheese, finely grated
- Garnish: chopped basil
Directions
- Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling water, according to package instructions, until slightly less than al dente (should still have bite to it).
- Meanwhile, heat 2 tb olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the onions begin to soften, then add in the ground beef. Continue cooking and breaking up the meat and cook until cooked through.
- Drain pasta, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water, and set the pasta aside.
- Pour Rao’s Homemade Vodka Arrabbiata Sauce and reserved pasta water into the meat mixture and stir well.
- Spray a sheet pan with cooking oil.
- Add the cooked pasta to the sheet pan in an even layer.
- Top with the meat mixture and use tongs to toss.
- Next, combine the panko and cheese mixture in a bowl and sprinkle evenly over the meat layer.
- Add more Rao’s Homemade Vodka Arrabbiata Sauce in between each layer, and on top before baking.
- Place in the oven and broil 5-7 minutes, carefully moving the pan in the oven so the top gets evenly crispy and browned.
- Remove from oven. Toss with additional Rao’s Homemade Vodka Arrabbiata Sauce, chopped basil and enjoy!
